New Westminster Chamber of Commerce Meets with Consulate General of Pakistan
New Westminster, BC- Earlier today, the New Westminster Chamber of Commerce President Christine Conway and Executive Director, Cori Lynn Germiquet met with Consulate General of Pakistan, Muhammad Saqif Saeed.
The meeting provided some insight into the areas of import and export opportunities for our members and our business community.
“We learned about what imports in terms of goods and services are priority items to this marketplace of 200 million people.” says Christine Conway President, New Westminster Chamber of Commerce. “Amongst the numerous opportunities for our business community the import of used clothing to their country caught the attention of Cori Lynn and I. With 30% of their population living under the poverty line, used clothing is a major import for them.”
The New Westminster Chamber applauds the B.C. government for listening to B.C.’s Chamber network and amending a recycling regulation that was causing substantial concern among businesses so that it will impact less that 1% of B.C.’s businesses.
“This is a huge relief to our local business community,” said Christine Conway, President of the New Westminster Chamber of Commerce “This change exempts the majority of our local businesses, including all of our Mom and Pop shops, from new costs and red tape.”
