There are many reasons to volunteer for any of the Chamber committees. Volunteering allows you to:

- Stay better tuned to specific issues affecting your community and business
- Be aware of bigger business and community issues

- Have input into practices and policies impacting on your community and business

Some of the opportunities are:
Governance Committee- Led by Christine Conway, President
The committee will provide assistance to the Board in fulfilling its responsibility to the Chamber by developing and recommending the Board a set of corporate governance principles, polices, standards and practices. The committee shall also annually review the chamber’s bylaws to ensure that they are aligned with the Chamber’s strategic vision.
Membership Development Committee- Led by Darrell Ross, Director
The Membership Committee of the Chamber shall advise the Board of Directors in matters and activities related to recruiting, retaining members and getting their feedback for improvement. This committee will work with staff to develop a customized New Westminster Chamber Sales and Retentions Strategy.
Program and Event Development – Led by Lana Berar, Executive Board Member
The Program and Events Committee is to evaluate current events and programs of the Chamber and make recommendations to the Board of Directors for additions or deletions to the program and event annual agenda. The committee will consider events that meet the needs of the business community with regard to a diversity of interests. It will also make recommendations to the Board in terms of making sure the events meet our strategic vision.
Economic Development- Led by Frank Gregus, Executive Secretary/Treasurer
Working closely with our economic development and community partners, this committee will tackle the issues that local business owners identify as priorities . We will assist communities, regional organizations, and government agencies in the development of policies, programs and initiatives to foster sustainable economic development of the area.
Marketing and Communications – Led by Lana Berar, Executive Board Member
Staying in touch with our 360+ members is one of our top priorities, and we’re always working to improve how we communicate with them. This committee advises the Board of Director on how best to reach members via email, web, and social media, as well as contribute to special projects and advocacy issues.
Policy Development, Advocacy and Development- Led by Christine Conway, President
To develop a Policy, Advocacy and Lobby strategy for the New Westminster Chamber of Commerce and to provide ongoing support to the Board of Directors . Comprised of members with expertise in particular fields the Chamber’s policy committees research and develop policies on a variety of issues that affect our businesses and are of importance to our members and business community. The committees’ viewpoints are then communicated to the, NW Chamber Members, BC Chamber Canadian Chamber, all government official, and the media.
